HYDRO-SEALER - 1000ml - LASCAUX
Hydroground N.750 is a pure acrylic solution, without toxic solvents and with extremely small grain size (diameter 0.06my). Its pH is 9-10. It is used by the enrichment method to fix loose substrates, to fix detached painting layers and as a base for thin color transparencies.
Impregnation The use of the material is recommended for impregnation on many surfaces such as wood, plaster, ceramic, concrete, etc. It is diluted 1:3 or 1:4 with water. Fastening It allows the fixing of painted surface on murals and obtains even greater penetration by adding 0.1%
Disponil 30/65. For complete fixation, the surface must be passed several times in succession until it is saturated with a Hydroground/Water solution approximately 1:5. Pre-work tests are needed to determine proper dilution with water.
On fragile murals painted with casein we recommend light fixing with Hydroground diluted with Cellosolve, which allows cleaning of the surfaces without damaging the painted surface.
Oil / tempera painting on canvas
If there is a problem fixing the painted surface then it can be passed from the back side. This is especially true when there is a need to fix and prepare the painting (gesso). The effectiveness can be increased by mixing Hydroground with Cellosolve (10-20%) together with 0.1% Disponil 30/65. The solvent softens the oil layer and when the board dries under a slight vacuum and heat all the detached layers fall back into place. In some cases fixation must be done with a very diluted back and forth dilution of Hydroground/Water from 1:1 to 1:5. If at the end a small amount of Hydroground remains on the surface of the board, it is easily removed with a soft sponge before it dries.
Dried Hydroground can be removed with acetone, alcohol, toluene and ketone.
