With this system you can create a high-quality but simple, effective gilding only indoors.
The system consists of three products:
• Sealer (undercoat)
• Fond (base)
• Colnasol (glue)
All components are water-soluble and applied cold. This saves you time and always ensures good adhesion between the different layers. The exact instructions are included in the products.
Contents:
· 5 sheets of Rosenoble Double Gold 23.75 carats, 80x80 mm loose.
· 50 ml Sealer P
· 50 ml Fond BI poliment dark red
· 1 Toray synthetic brush
· Colnasol 10 tablet
Application:
Step 1. Sealer-P is the first material you use for gilding. It is a concentrated water-based sealer designed to prepare porous surfaces before applying fond and colnasol base. Sealer-P also serves as a protective coating over gold or silver leaf.
It is diluted with tap water in a ratio of 1 part sealer to 3 parts water.
Apply the diluted solution with a soft brush. The amount of application depends on the porosity of the surfaces. In case of
very porous surfaces (such as plaster or soft woods) more coats are recommended.
After drying a satin sheen should be visible.
Waiting. Let the material dry thoroughly before applying any additional coats.
The time is approximately ½ to 1 hour.
Step 2. Fond red base. First of all it must be mixed well. Do not shake vigorously as bubbles appear.
Combines the properties of gesso and bole in a pre-mixed form. Brush on 3 to 4 thin coats and allow each coat to dry thoroughly.
Buff lightly with a damp cloth. Then buff with a dry cloth for a high shine.
Step 3. Dissolve the colnasol tablet by stirring quickly in 500ml of hot water. Allow to cool before use.
Apply the colnasol solution to the entire surface with a brush and apply the gold leaf in small pieces with a fern brush.
Once dry, polish with agate for extra shine.
