INSTACOLL GILDING SET - KOLNERThe Instacoll system is a system for high gloss gilding both indoors and outdoors. It can be used on a wide variety of surfaces as long as they have been prepared using common techniques to create weather-resistant surfaces.

An ideal set for those who want to experiment with gilding.

The set includes:

5 sheets of 23.75 carat gold leaf, size 80x80 mm

50 ml Instacoll Base Yellow (base)

50 ml Instacoll Activator (activator)

1 synthetic brush 20mm

1 Instacoll Tissue (gilding cloth)

Application: Absorbent surfaces such as wood, stone, plaster etc. must first be treated with a coat of Instacoll diluted with 15% water. After 30 minutes of drying, the surface will be treated with a second coat of undiluted (or a maximum of 10% water) Instacoll. On exterior surfaces, more preparation/priming may be required before Instacoll.

Apply Instacoll with a soft, synthetic brush.

One or two coats are sufficient. The last coat must be completely dry before applying the next. Before applying the last coat of Instacoll, we must wait at least 1 hour. Now you have 1 hour to apply the sheet without using the Activator. If we wait more than an hour, then the surface must be activated with the Activator. The surface can be activated again and again (one day, two weeks, six months, etc.). Surfaces that have been activated in the past can be reactivated.

Activation

The surface that has been treated with Instacoll will be activated with the Activator using a soft cloth or cotton soaked in the Activator. We apply the Activator in a thin, even layer. The film must be thin enough to dry in less than 2 minutes. Now you can apply the foil for another 50/60 minutes. We apply the gold paste by pressing the back side (which has the paper) with a cotton ball. If the gilding is continuous we must always activate the next surface. To obtain a surface without lines we can put a little Activator on the edge of the already glued foil so that the next one covers the other. The Activator must always be dry before we glue the next foil. When the entire surface has been gilded then we press gently everywhere with the cotton, especially at the seams between the foils. Then we rub the surface with the cotton in one direction to obtain the shiny polish. We fill any gaps by applying the Activator as described above. You can very easily use clear Instacoll to improve the surface if you are not satisfied.
